The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change states in its Fourth Assessment Report that lifestyle changes can contribute to climate change mitigation. Becoming vegetarian, or at the very least eating less red meat, is one of the most effective acts anyone can take to lesson greenhouse gas emissions.
Livestock are one of the biggest contributors to climate change, producing 18% of the world's total greenhouse gases according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. By having just one meat-free day a week individuals can dramatically reduce their carbon footprint, help to slow global warming and lesson their impact on the natural environment.
I make a pledge to continue to eat plant-based meals to help save the planet.
"I generally have one to two vegetarian meals a week as I believe it helps keep my body performing."
"I try to have a few vego meals a week at home and when I'm on tour. I find I not only feel lighter but I also enjoy the tastes from plant based foods - I'm always surprised of the variety of vegetarian foods around the world."
